Published on August 23, 2019, residents in Lamu County have raised concerns over the increasing number of potholes on the Manda Airport runway.

The potholes, according to residents, impede the movement of planes during landing and take-off, posing a significant risk to air travel.

Additionally, the dilapidated state of the airport runway is attributed to the reduced number of tourists visiting the area.

Just last week, a Nairobi-bound aircraft was delayed after its wheel got stuck in a pothole, with passengers waiting for half an hour as airport workers tried to remove the plane's left rear tyre from the hole.

Residents are now calling on authorities to take immediate action to repair the runway and prevent further accidents.
