A faction of Jubilee Party members in Nakuru County, including Nakuru Town West MP Samuel Arama, has endorsed recent Senate leadership reshuffles, calling them "long overdue." The move follows calls for Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika and Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen to exit the party rather than challenge leadership decisions.
Arama stated that President Uhuru Kenyatta's intervention demonstrated necessary discipline, urging him to address disrespectful figures in the National Assembly. "We urge the president to extend the same to the National Assembly and weed out all the leaders who are disrespectful and sabotaging the party's activities," he said in a statement.
The removal of Murkomen and Kihika from Senate leadership roles sparked analysis of internal divisions within the ruling party. The two senators, aligned with the Tangatanga faction supporting Deputy President William Ruto, had been advocating for his 2022 presidential bid before their replacements.
