On Thursday morning, residents of Koluoch Village in Atela, Homa Bay County, made a gruesome discovery: two unidentified bodies dumped by the roadside.
The bodies, which had deep cuts on their heads and necks, were found on the Sondu-Borabu road in Rachuonyo East sub-county.
According to police, the two men in their early 50s may have been killed elsewhere and their bodies dumped in the area.
Rachuonyo East Sub County Police Commander Charles Barasa explained that preliminary investigations revealed the victims were strangled and hit using crude weapons.
"Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victims were strangled and hit using crude weapons," Mr Barasa said.
The motive behind the killings remains unknown, and no one has been arrested in connection with the incident.
The bodies were taken to Rachuonyo South Sub County Hospital mortuary for post-mortem.
