On Thursday night, a census convoy in Wajir, Kenya, came under attack by unknown gunmen. The incident occurred at Masalale town in Eldas sub-county.
Wajir North legislator Ahmed Ibrahim, who was part of the convoy, managed to escape unhurt, but their vehicle was torched during the attack.
According to reports, the group had just arrived in the area when they heard the sound of gunshots, prompting them to flee for their lives.
Just a day prior, Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiangi had assured Kenyans that security personnel had been deployed across the country ahead of the Census.
