Published on August 23, 2019, Kenyan billionaire Simon Gicharu's rags-to-riches story is a testament to his unwavering self-belief and determination.

After being rejected for a lecturer's position at the Kenya School of Professional Studies, now known as Inoorero University, Gicharu decided to take a different approach. Instead of dwelling on the rejection, he went on to purchase the university's building.

According to Gicharu's social media post, he had been told by the university that they would contact him if they were interested in hiring him. However, years later, Gicharu returned to the university and bought the building, leaving many to wonder at his audacity and determination.

Gicharu's tweet, which has garnered hundreds of comments, over 1,000 retweets, and more than 3,000 likes, has inspired many Kenyans with his story of perseverance and self-belief.

As Gicharu himself once tweeted, 'When I was fired by TSC in 1995, I started hawking milk in Thika to support my family. I did my rounds in an old Chevy pickup, such as this one. Friends laughed at me, calling me a 'failed graduate'. But this didn't shake me. Self-belief is the key to success.'
