On August 22, 2019, a devastating accident occurred on the Narok-Bomet Road in Kenya, claiming the lives of five people and leaving 15 others seriously injured.

A 14-seater matatu from Egesa company, headed to Kisii from Nairobi, veered off the road at Kipsoen area after the driver attempted to avoid a head-on collision with an oncoming vehicle.

The matatu rolled several times before landing in a ditch, resulting in the tragic loss of life.

According to Bomet Central police boss Musa Omar, two men, two women, and a child were killed on the spot.

Those injured were taken to Longisa Hospital, with two others referred to Tenwek Mission Hospital for specialized treatment.

This incident is not an isolated case, as the same spot had witnessed a similar accident three years ago, resulting in the deaths of five people and injuries to 13 others.

Additionally, in March 2019, four people were killed and nine others injured in a separate incident on the Olenguruone-Bomet road, when a 14-seater matatu collided with a motorbike.
