Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) coach Zedekiah 'Zico' Otieno is optimistic about his team's chances in the upcoming 2019/20 Kenyan Premier League (KPL) season, just a week before the big kick-off.

On Thursday, August 22, 2019, KCB continued their impressive preseason form with a 2-0 win over AFC Leopards at Gems Cambridge International School in Nairobi, as the four-team KPL pre-season tournament entered its second day.

Ian Motanda, who recently joined KCB from Kisumu AllStars, opened the scoring in the 10th minute, while new signing Stephen Onyango, acquired from Fortune Sacco FC, sealed the win with a composed finish in the 50th minute.

As the Harambee Stars assistant coach, Zico believes the preseason results demonstrate that KCB will be a force to be reckoned with in the top-flight league.

"We had an eight-week preseason plan, which was split into three stages. We started by slowly getting the players back in shape, then went for high altitude training in the Rift Valley, and now we're in our final phase of playing friendly matches against top-level teams. I'm happy with the progress the team has made, and I'm confident as we approach the new season," Zico told Nation Sports.
