On August 22, 2019, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) rejected a massive offer from Real Madrid for Brazilian forward Neymar, worth Sh11 billion (€2.1 billion) plus players.
The offer, which included cash, Gareth Bale, James Rodriguez, and goalkeeper Keylor Navas, was deemed insufficient by PSG's sporting director Leonardo, who is determined to only sell Neymar for a deal of similar value.
PSG paid Sh25 billion (€222 million) to sign Neymar from Barcelona two years ago, and it appears they are unwilling to let him go for less.
Real Madrid has been trying to offload Bale, while James Rodriguez is unwanted after returning from a loan at Bayern Munich, and Navas is no longer the club's first-choice goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, Barcelona remains hopeful of bringing Neymar back to the Camp Nou, but their attempt to sign him on loan with an obligation to buy for €160 million at the end of the season has been firmly rejected in Paris.
With the transfer window closing in France, Spain, and Italy on September 2, time is running out for a deal to be done.
