On August 22, 2019, DCI officers arrested Tabitha Karanja, the director of Keroche Breweries, in connection with a 14.4 billion tax evasion case spanning several years.

Anerlisa Muigai, the heiress to the Keroche empire, has chosen to address the situation through prayer, rather than publicly commenting on the matter.

According to her Instagram post, Anerlisa has taken her parents' situation to God, saying, 'We will keep you updated as the situation unfolds.'
