On Wednesday, a massive fire erupted in a 10-storey building in the southeastern suburb of Creteil, near the Henri-Mondor hospital in Paris.

According to Guillaume Fresse, the Paris fire department spokesman, the blaze rapidly spread to the rest of the building, engulfing the facade and a staircase.

Fortunately, the fire did not affect the hospital itself, which gained international recognition in 2010 for carrying out the world's first full face transplant.

Over 100 firefighters battled the blaze for more than two hours, saving 10 people trapped inside the building before extinguishing the flames at 1:30 am (2330 GMT).

Tragically, one woman lost her life in the fire, and several others were injured, including two firefighters who sustained serious injuries during the operation.

Approximately 50 people were evacuated from the block, and the incident serves as a reminder of the dangers of fires in residential areas.

Notably, this is not the first time Paris has experienced a devastating fire. In February, a woman suffering from psychiatric problems started a fire in the city's 16th district, resulting in the deaths of 10 people and injuries to 96 others.
