On August 22, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta was spotted engaging in a series of martial arts moves, leaving many in the country in awe and amusement.

While sending off the national Tae Kwondo team, Uhuru's attempts at demonstrating his martial arts skills were met with laughter and ridicule.

Tae Kwondo, a Korean school of martial arts, has a rich history dating back 2,300 years. The name 'Taekwondo' is derived from the Korean words 'Tae' (foot), 'Kwon' (fist), and 'Do' (way of), literally meaning 'the way of the foot and fist.'

According to a brief history on MSU-Edu, the name 'Taekwondo' has only been used since 1955, while the art's roots began in Korea over 2,300 years ago.
