On August 22, 2019, a disturbing story emerged about a woman who discovered that her father was not the man she thought he was. A DNA test revealed that she was related to a doctor who had secretly used his own sperm for her conception.
According to the woman, she felt a sense of violation and identity crisis upon learning the truth. Her mother also felt violated, and the woman struggled to cope with the revelation.
When reached by phone, the retired doctor, Dr. Gary Don Davis, denied any wrongdoing, saying 'Well, that's surprising. Let me check on that. Goodbye.' Further attempts to contact him were unsuccessful, and he passed away in June.
Experts speculate that some doctors may have used their own sperm due to a lack of access to donor sperm, which was not the recommended medical standard until the late 1980s. Others may have had darker motivations, such as power or narcissistic issues.
