On August 11, 2019, Police Officer Arthur Gakuya from Vigilance House made a stopover at Jambo Grill, Thika Road, after inspecting a construction site in Juja.
There, he met two women, Peninah Afandi and Everlyne Asendi, who charmed him with their attention and pretended to know him.
After buying them Sh980 worth of beers, the trio left Jambo Grill and headed to the Nairobi CBD, where they continued to drink at the Eureka club on Tom Mboya Street.
According to reports, the officer asked for a threesome, which the ladies agreed to, but things took a dark turn when Gakuya ran out of cash.
He told the ladies he needed to withdraw some cash, and Afandi called a cab, while Gakuya took the taxi and withdrew Sh10,000 from an ATM.
However, the ladies and a taxi driver, Patrick Kihara Munyinyi, forced Gakuya into the cab, where they pulled out a gun, took his money, and ATM cards, and made him drink until he blacked out.
They dumped him in Kileleshwa, where he regained consciousness and took a bodaboda home.
Afandi and Asendi then withdrew Sh60,000 from Gakuya's bank accounts and went on a shopping spree, spending Sh384,000 using his ATM card.
They were later charged with administering stupefying drugs to Gakuya with intent to steal and stealing a grand total of about Sh454,000.
They denied the charges and were released on Sh300,000 cash bail, with the trial set to start on September 25, 2019.
