On April 14, 2018, Cynthia Akinyi, the Nyanza region representative from Sega Secondary School, blocked Annet Barasa of Moi Girls Kamusinga from Western during the KSSSA Term 1 National games at Kangaru School in Embu County.

Debutants St Joseph's Kirandich and Moi Girls Kamusinga are set to face off in the handball semis, with both teams seeking an all-Kenyan final at the KSSSA Term 1 National games.

As the Kenyan girls look to salvage the crown Kamusinga won in 2016, in Eldoret, they will be up against Rwanda's Es Kiziguro and Uganda's Mbogo High.

St Joseph's Kirandich, the national champions, will take on Rwanda's Es Kiziguro, who finished second in Group A behind 2016 East Africa winners Kamusinga.

On the other hand, Moi Girls Kamusinga will meet familiar foes Mbogo High from Uganda as they seek to play in their fourth successive final.

The Kenyan girls will be looking to extend their good run over the Ugandans, who they beat in the 2016 Eldoret final to be crowned champions.

"We are determined to make it to the final and hope they (Kirandich) will also win their match so that we can be assured of taking the trophy back to Kenya," said Kamusinga captain Mildred Nyongesa.

Meanwhile, Kenyans will take to the track today as the athletics program begins at Sheikh Abeid Memorial Stadium, with Solomon Boit and Noah Kimutai hoping to bag Kenya's first medal in the boys' 10,000m race.
