Former Volleyball Coach Cleophas Nyongesa Dies in Road Accident

On August 22, 2019, the sports community lost a talented coach with the passing of Cleophas Nyongesa, a 67-year-old former international and Ministry of Works volleyball coach.

Nyongesa, who had a storied career, was coaching The Standard Group Nakuru Bureau team for the 2014 inter-bureau championships at the time of his death.

Tragically, he was hit by a speeding motorbike in Bungoma and died on arrival at the hospital.

A funds drive has been organized in Bungoma for Monday to help cover burial expenses, as Nyongesa leaves behind two widows and 13 children.
