On Tuesday evening, a 15-year-old girl from Eldama Ravine gave birth to a baby in a public toilet. The newborn's life was short-lived, as the girl allegedly threw it into the pit latrine, where it died.

According to Ravine Sub-county Police commander Rashid Mohammed, the girl, a Form One student at Tirkatol Secondary School, locked herself in the toilet and gave birth. She then walked out without the baby, leaving it to die in the pit latrine.

Neighbours heard the baby cry and rushed to rescue it, but unfortunately, the child died moments after being rescued. The infant's body was taken to Eldama Ravine Hospital for a postmortem.

Mr. Mohammed stated that after investigations are completed, the girl will be arraigned and charged with murder, despite being a minor. The incident occurred on August 20, 2019.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, eight people have recorded statements at Eldama Ravine Police station in connection with the brutal attack on a 33-year-old woman. The woman, Norah Chepchirchir, had her eyes gouged out by unknown assailants on August 6, 2019, while she was on her way to visit her ailing sister.
