Dr. Sandra Lee, MD, also known as Dr. Pimple Popper, recently shared a remarkable before-and-after photo series on Instagram, showcasing her expertise in treating skin cancer. The photos, posted on Wednesday, feature a patient who underwent Mohs Surgery to remove a basal cell carcinoma from his nose.

Basal cell carcinoma is the most common form of skin cancer, and Mohs Surgery is a highly effective treatment option. This procedure involves progressively removing layers of skin containing cancer cells, allowing for the preservation of as much normal tissue as possible.

According to the Mayo Clinic, Mohs Surgery delivers extremely low recurrence rates, making it a preferred method for removing skin cancers like basal cell carcinoma. Dr. Lee's expertise in this area is evident in her ability to remove the cancerous cells while preserving the surrounding skin.

"A couple mornings every week I do Mohs Micrographic Skin Cancer Surgery, to remove skin cancers like this basal cell carcinoma on this gentleman’s nose," Dr. Lee wrote in the caption. "Mohs Surgery is the best way to remove skin cancers like these because it’s all about normal tissue preservation (keeping as much normal skin as possible) and also delivering the extremely low recurrence rates. And honestly, it’s FUN because it challenges your creativity! I couldn’t do 'pimple popping' all day, every day, that would drive me crazy!"
