On Saturday, August 24, 2019, travellers on the Mombasa-Nairobi highway will be flagged down at roadblocks in Mtito Andei, Emali, and Salama townships to ensure they have taken part in the population census.
According to Makueni County Commissioner Mohammed Maalim, those who have not been counted will be required to fill out the necessary forms before being allowed to continue their journeys.
As part of the county's preparations for the census exercise, bars and premises licensed to sell alcoholic beverages have been directed to remain closed for 24 hours starting from 6pm on August 24.
Bar owners who defy this directive risk having their licenses revoked, as warned by Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana.
