Meru Senator Mithika Linturi and his estranged wife Maryanne Kitany are embroiled in a contentious divorce case, with both parties taking the stand to testify against each other.

According to court testimony, Kitany revealed that she initially moved in with Linturi due to his significant rent arrears, which she would subsequently cover.

Kitany stated that on one occasion, she provided Linturi with Sh 200,000 to settle his rent, while on another, she paid a substantial Sh 11 million to fund a family trip to Australia, with Linturi not contributing a single dime.

Kitany also testified that her relationship with Linturi began in 2014, when she intervened to prevent him from tabling a motion to impeach then Devolution CS Anne Waiguru in parliament.
