This archive report was first published on 21 August 2019.

On August 14, 2019, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi officially declared the Kibra constituency seat vacant in a special Gazette notice.

Following this declaration, the electoral commission has until mid-November to conduct the by-election, which was necessitated by the death of Ken Okoth on July 26, 2019.

Okoth had served for two terms, having been re-elected during the August 8, 2017, general election.

Among those vying for the hotly contested seat is Kriss Darling, a celebrated spin master, as well as a brother to the late Okoth, Imran Okoth, and several other notable Kenyans.

May the best man win.
