Bolt, the Estonian-born company formerly known as Taxify, has taken a significant step in its mission to become a global on-demand transportation platform with the launch of its food delivery service, Bolt Food.

Starting in Tallinn, Estonia, Bolt Food will expand to more cities in Europe over the next 12 weeks, including Latvia and Lithuania. The service will then burst into new markets across Europe and Africa in 2020.

According to Jevgeni Kabanov, Chief Product Officer, Bolt: “Our ride-hailing business is built on the twin pillars of efficiency and offering drivers and passengers alike the best deal on the market. We’re eager to bring this mindset to food delivery and offer a lower price of delivery compared to other platforms while making sure our couriers get the best support.”

The launch of Bolt Food marks the platform’s latest expansion into new transportation services, following the rebrand from Taxify into Bolt and the introduction of electric scooter rentals last year.

Restaurants and couriers can sign up with Bolt Food at food.bolt.eu. To use the new service, customers need to download the Bolt Food app, which will suggest the closest restaurants for food delivery based on location. The launch in Tallinn will be marked by free delivery.

With over 25 million people around the world using Bolt, the company is confident that restaurants working with Bolt Food will find value in this loyal customer base, as well as benefiting from new customers attracted by the seamless and simple experience.

As one of the fastest-growing businesses in Europe, Bolt has grown to serve more than 25 million customers in 30 countries across Europe and Africa, offering a fair deal to drivers hand-in-hand with lower fares.
