On August 21, 2019, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) issued a stern warning to teachers who use institutional resources for personal studies, stating that such behavior compromises the quality of teaching in public schools.
According to the commission, the decision was made after it established that teachers were misusing resources meant for official work, leading to poor performance in academic programs and co-curricular activities among learners.
The new policy, launched by the TSC, requires teachers to undertake professional development courses six times during their years of service.
“The Commission will take stern disciplinary action on any teacher who violates the provision of these guidelines,” said Mrs. Macharia, emphasizing the commission's commitment to upholding the new order.
