On June 21, Brazilian woman video game streamer Gabriela Cattuzzo tweeted a photo of herself on a mechanical bull, which sparked a disturbing response from a male user.
The user replied, “you can ride me if you want,” in a clear example of sexual harassment. Cattuzzo's tweet has since been deleted.
However, the incident has gained viral momentum and is now trending worldwide, with Facebook users pushing the movement further.
As the hashtag #MenAreTrash gains traction, women from around the world, including Kenya, are sharing their own stories of harassment and abuse, highlighting the need for change.
According to Kotaku, a gaming news site, Cattuzzo was dropped by a sponsor as a result of her tweet, which sparked widespread outrage and support for the streamer.
