On Wednesday, August 21, 2019, Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni departed for the Angolan capital, Luanda, to attend a quadripartite summit.
The summit, hosted by Angolan President João Lourenço, aims to normalize the frosty relations between Kampala and Kigali.
According to the Ugandan presidency, the summit is part of the continuation of the dialoguing process aimed at finding a lasting solution to regional issues.
The meeting is expected to be attended by Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso and DR Congo's Felix Tshisekedi, in addition to Rwandan President Paul Kagame.
Previous efforts by Kenya's President Uhuru Kenyatta to bring the two leaders to the negotiating table were unsuccessful.
