Media personality Janet Mbugua has sparked a conversation about periods after sharing her thoughts on having sex during menstruation.
On her YouTube channel, Janet responded to fan questions about periods, including whether it's safe to have sex during this time.
According to medical experts, some of the dangers of having sex during menstruation include an increased risk of vaginal bleeding, as the veins of the uterus are congested and prone to rupture. Additionally, while the chances of pregnancy during unprotected menstrual sexual contact are small, they do not completely disappear.
Janet advised her fans to take precautions, such as using a towel and covering the sheets, and to use a latex condom to avoid unplanned pregnancies and STIs. She also suggested removing a tampon and being open with one's partner.
Janet Mbugua has been open about her own experiences with periods, including having her two children through C-section and undergoing a gall bladder removal after giving birth to her second child.
