August 21, 2019 - Marianne Kitany, a former Chief of Staff to Deputy President William Ruto, has found herself in the middle of a divorce case against Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.

Kitany, who was Ruto's aide from 2017 to 2018, testified in court that Ruto had instructed her to deal with Linturi's regular complaints against the Jubilee administration.

She revealed that Ruto was concerned about Linturi's plan to impeach Waiguru and requested her assistance to persuade the legislator.

Kitany said she was successful in her mission, as the impeachment motion failed after Linturi failed to show up for the mention of his motion, thereby saving Waiguru.

“I, therefore, embarked on that mission as ordered by the DP…When the impeachment motion was first tabled in Parliament, Linturi and I were at Lake Naivasha Sopa Lodge having a good time. At that time, he had already won my heart,” she told the court.

Kitany also revealed that Linturi had moved into her house in Kileleshwa, where they had planned and actualized a wedding ceremony at the Senator's home in Meru.

Linturi had denied being married to Kitany, describing her as a visitor in his home, but Kitany has maintained that they planned, actualized and attended a wedding ceremony at the Senator's home in Meru.
