Published on August 21, 2019, a day after the tragic incident, the family of celebrated Kikuyu benga musician John De'Mathew has announced burial arrangements.
According to an autopsy report, De'Mathew died from internal injuries sustained in a car crash on Sunday night.
The musician's family has confirmed that he will be laid to rest on Saturday, August 24, 2019, at his home in Gathiruini village, Murang'a County. A funeral service will precede the burial at Githambia Primary School.
Meetings for burial arrangements are being held at the Blue Spring Hotel in Nairobi and Metro Fill Hotel in Thika.
De'Mathew's family has also acknowledged his two wives, Sabina Wairimu and Carolyne Waithira, and assured fans that there would be no family disputes in the burial process.
“We recognise the two wives, Mama Shiku (Wairimu) and Waithera. His two wives are known and we have talked to them. Everyone knows that he has two wives and they will not fight,” said De'Mathew's younger brother, Evans Mburu.
