On December 14, 2017, the National Super Alliance-Nasa announced plans to resume its plans to swear-in leader Raila Odinga as the president of the People's Republic of Kenya.

The coalition stated that the inauguration conference of the People's Assembly would take place early 2018, followed by a series of regional consultative forums across the country.

According to a statement from the Organizing Committee, the first consultative meeting would be held on Sunday, December 17, 2017, in the coastal region.

The opposition had previously aborted the planned inauguration of the former prime minister on Sunday, December 10, 2017, citing a disappointment to the people of Kenya who were eagerly waiting for the occasion.

Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of Kenya, had previously warned against secession and dissents, stating that everything must be done within the constitutional order.

David Ndii, Nasa's chief strategist, was arrested by the police last week and arraigned in court for incitement, but was later released as no evidence was found against him.
