Former chief of staff at Deputy President William Ruto's office Marianne Kitany has testified in a divorce case against her estranged husband, Meru Senator Mithika Linturi.
Ms. Kitany, 44, claimed she was already a millionaire when she got engaged to Mr. Linturi, contradicting his claims that they were legally married at the time.
She told a Nairobi court that she had made millions before meeting Mr. Linturi and that she was residing in Kileleshwa while he was renting a house on Ngong Road.
Ms. Kitany said their relationship started in 2014 when Dr. Ruto gave her an assignment, and they first got intimate during a trip to Naivasha.
She also revealed that Mr. Linturi was a frequent visitor at DP Ruto's office at Harambee Annex where she worked as chief of staff.
Ms. Kitany testified that she bought her first house soon after completing her secondary education at Alliance High School and made a profit of about Sh600,000 after selling it to pursue her first degree at Kenyatta University.
Mr. Linturi had disputed marrying Ms. Kitany and would be calling two witnesses to support his claims.
The hearing continues tomorrow.
