On Monday evening, Kenya's most valuable player, Joash Odhiambo, made headlines after declaring his admiration for Manchester United's Harry Maguire.

Published on August 20, 2019, Odhiambo's sentiments have left many Kenyans surprised and wondering if he is indeed serious about his ambition to become a great player.

The 26-year-old defender, who plays for Gor Mahia and the national team Harambee Stars, expressed his desire to emulate Maguire's defensive skills and coordination.

‘I admire Harry Maguire’s skill and the way he coordinates his team’s defense. I want to be like him… when I grow up,’” Odhiambo declared.

However, many Kenyans have taken issue with Odhiambo's sentiments, questioning his vision and suggesting that he is already in his retirement bracket.

Some have also criticized Odhiambo for focusing on better opportunities in other clubs rather than concentrating on winning trophies with Gor Mahia and Harambee Stars.
