Maurizio Sarri Diagnosed with Pneumonia ¶
Italian football tactician Maurizio Sarri has been diagnosed with pneumonia, just days before the start of the new Serie A season.
According to reports, Sarri was taken ill and initially thought to have the flu, but further tests revealed that he had contracted pneumonia.
As a result, Sarri will be assessed on a day-by-day basis, and it remains unclear if he will recover in time to take charge of Juventus ahead of their Serie A opener with Parma.
Chelsea, who Sarri managed in the 2018-2019 season, has sent their best wishes to the Italian tactician.
"All of us at Chelsea send our best wishes to Maurizio Sarri, who is being treated for pneumonia. Get well soon, Maurizi," a tweet from Chelsea read.
Sarri joined Chelsea from Napoli in the summer of 2018 and led the team to a third-place finish in the Premier League before leaving.
During his tenure, he also led Chelsea to the final of the Capital One Cup, which they lost on penalties to Manchester City.
However, his moment of glory came towards the end of last season, after helping Chelsea win the Europa League title in Baku, Azerbaijan.
