Homa Bay Governor Cyprian Awiti has been absent from office for an extended period, despite the Supreme Court upholding his win months ago.
Senator Moses Kajwang' and Homa Bay Town MP Peter Kaluma have expressed concerns about the county's operations, citing poor services and corruption within Awiti's cabinet.
'The governor should resign for entertaining corrupt ministers in his government,' Kaluma told a local daily. 'They have not delivered any meaningful services to residents and there is nothing going on in the county.'
Mr. Kaluma denied reports that he plans to run for the top county seat in the 2022 General Election.
Separately, Mr. Kajwang' expressed fears about the competency of Mr. Orata, saying he will just 'duplicate the bad development record of Mr. Awiti.'
Bunge la Wenye Nchi Homa Bay Speaker Walter Opiyo supported the claims by the two MPs, saying they have collected 50,000 signatures as they seek to oust the governor by end of the year.
