A voter's lawsuit to block the resignation of Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker David Githanda Wachira has been withdrawn, upholding the Speaker's decision to step down.

Francis Waweru Muchiri had filed a petition on August 15, 2019, to block the Speaker's resignation, citing that it was against the constitution.

However, Muchiri's lawyer, Solomon Wamwanyi, held talks with the Speaker's lawyer, John Murimi Njomo, and the case was subsequently withdrawn.

The Speaker had resigned on July 30, 2019, stating that he wanted to concentrate on his Nairobi law firm.
