On August 16, 2019, at 18:45pm, Reuben Ndolo, the former Makadara Member of Parliament, allegedly uttered threatening words against Rashid Hamid, the director of Richland Properties Limited, at Bustani gardens along Oledume road.

According to the charge sheet, Ndolo said, “Wewe mjinga wa Lamu, ukileta mchezo Nairobi tutakuua kwa kukudunga dunga visu, usilete ushago hapa Nairobi si kwenu, rudi Lamu na tutahakikisha tumekuuwa,” which translates to, “You foolish one from Lamu, if you bring a game to Nairobi, we will burn you with hot water, do not bring shame here in Nairobi, go back to Lamu and we will ensure we have dealt with you.”

Ndolo was charged alongside six others, including Daniel Otieno, George Otieno, Cyrus Nyamboga, Benard Ochieng, Dick Otieno, and Hassan Dima, with creating disturbance in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.

The court heard that the group forcefully broke into the gates of Bustani garden and intimidated the security guards, commanding them to leave their working place.

Ndolo pleaded not guilty to all charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh.200,000 or an alternative of Ksh.300,000 bond with one surety. The case will be mentioned on September 3, 2019, for pre-trial directions.
