On Sunday afternoon, a robbery incident occurred on a Kenya Bus Service bus along Ngong Road, sparking allegations of crew involvement.
However, the Kenya Bus Service Management has denied these allegations, stating that their crew was not involved in the incident.
According to a statement posted on their official Twitter page, the management said that contrary to reports from complaining customers, their crew was not involved in the robbery.
A member of the public, Miriam Wanda, witnessed the incident and took to Twitter to express her concerns. She claimed that the conductor allowed four men to enter the bus and steal a phone from a young lady.
Ms Wanda alleged that the conductor and the four men seemed to know each other, and that the men used a ruse to gain the trust of the passengers before stealing the phone.
However, the Kenya Bus Service Management has a different account of the events. They claim that the bus had three empty seats when seven men entered, and that the conductor refused to carry excess passengers.
When the seven men refused to alight from the bus, the conductor told the driver to drive to the Nairobi area police, and the men eventually jumped off the bus.
Reactions on social media indicate that this incident is not an isolated case, with many citing similar incidents along the Ngong, Kawangware, and Uhuru Highway routes.
The Kenya Bus Service Management has summoned the crew members to record statements at their control room, awaiting a report from Ms Wanda, whom they say is not picking up their calls.
