Published on August 20, 2019, Miss Karun, a 25-year-old former member of the popular hip hop group Camp Mulla, has opened up about her decision to leave the group at the height of her career.

Speaking to a local publication, Karun revealed that she was tired of the fame that came with being part of the group, which was nominated for the BET Awards in 2012.

She stated that the pressure was too much for her, and it prevented her from being herself or exploring her own identity as a 16-year-old.

According to Karun, fans had high expectations, and she felt pressure to conform to a specific type of music. She said, “I was tired of the fame. It was stifling me. I couldn’t make any mistake. I couldn’t experiment. I couldn’t really find out who I was or who I wanted to be because of people’s eyes I was already that girl from Camp Mulla,” as quoted by The Standard.

After leaving Camp Mulla, Karun finally gained the freedom to be herself and pursue her own interests.

Interestingly, the group was going through a rough time behind the scenes when they received the BET nomination in 2012, which coincided with their eventual split in 2013.

Camp Mulla was a hip hop group that rose to fame in 2010 with their hit song ‘Party don’t stop’ and went on to earn a BET awards nomination in 2012 for Best International Act.
