On August 19, 2019, South Sudan's President Salva Kiir made a significant change to his cabinet, replacing Foreign Minister Nhial Deng Nhial with former Gender Minister Awut Deng Acuil.
According to Ateny Wek Ateny, the presidential spokesperson, the president made the changes in the evening of August 19, 2019.
Along with the change in the Foreign Ministry, Kiir also appointed two new ministers, one for Wildlife and the other for Roads and Bridges.
Additionally, the governors of Twic and Akobo were sacked, as announced on state radio.
