On Sunday, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi welcomed several Rift Valley leaders to his family home in Kabarak, marking a significant move in the region's battle for control ahead of the 2022 elections.

The meeting, which included retired President Daniel Moi, was attended by prominent figures such as Elgeyo Marakwet Governor Alex Tolgos, Kanu Secretary-General Nick Salat, Moiben MP Silas Tiren, former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto, businessman Bundotich Buzeki, and Tiaty MP William Kamket, among others.

According to sources, the leaders discussed pressing regional issues, including the welfare of Rift Valley farmers, peace in Kerio Valley, and the region's political trends.

As the 2022 General Election approaches, Senator Moi's efforts to solidify his home support are gaining momentum, with the senator touring the region to regain the region's support and weaken Deputy President William Ruto's stronghold in the vote-rich Rift Valley region.

The leaders have formed an alliance to champion the rights of nearly 60,000 people facing eviction from the Mau Forest complex, seeking a humane solution and compensation for the affected individuals.

Senator Moi emphasized the need for a collective effort to address the issue, stating, 'The information from South Rift leaders that over 60,000 people will be rendered homeless is extremely sad. Let us sit down and reason. Let us bring on board the top leadership of the country and find a solution.'
