President Uhuru Kenyatta has nominated new members to take over the mantle at the National Land Commission, following the expiry of the term of the first commissioners in February 2019.

Among those nominated are former CS Kazungu Kambi, former MP Esther Murugi, and former Moi University vice-chancellor James Tuitoek.

The nominations come at a time when the Lands Ministry is cracking down on land fraud, with Cabinet Secretary Farida Karoney announcing fresh vetting for all land buying companies before they are allowed back into business.

According to Karoney, the ministry is working with the Interior Ministry to close down fraudulent companies and arrest their owners.

The new NLC commissioners, including Gershom Otachi Bw'Omanwa as chairperson, will now await approval from the National Assembly.
