On August 19, 2019, Citizen TV reported that former TV comedian and ODM party nominated councillor George Mwangangi, popularly known as Mwongolo, was charged with obtaining money under false pretenses.
Mwongolo, who was working for Wakati Limited at the time of the alleged offence, was accused of obtaining Ksh.500,000 from James Masinde Wanyonyi by claiming he was in a position to lease out to him an advertising space for one year on January 31, 2019.
Appearing before Nairobi Magistrate Martha Mutuku, Mwongolo pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Ksh 200,000 or an alternative of Ksh.300,000 bond.
The case will be heard on September 26, 2019.
