On Monday, FEASSSA Secretary General David Ngugi revealed that China has agreed to sponsor 80% of the games, which will attract students from different countries across the globe.

Speaking at a symposium in Arusha, Tanzania, Ngugi said that schools who win the ongoing East Africa Games will join other Africa winners to compete in China.

China has promised to host the World Schools Games and will offer free accommodation to participating schools, as well as pay 80% of their air tickets.

Ngugi, who is also the Kenya Secondary Schools Sports Association (KSSSA) Secretary General, expressed confidence that Kenya will shine at this year's regional games and have representatives in the world schools fiesta.

However, the Africa Schools Games first edition, scheduled to be held in Nigeria in October, hangs in the balance due to lack of sponsorship.
