On August 19, 2019, Mildred Atty Owiso, the admin of the Facebook group Buyer Beware, found herself in a tense standoff with police at her house.
According to a video shared by Owiso, police arrived at her residence without a warrant of arrest, sparking a heated exchange between her and the officers.
Owiso, who was live on Facebook at the time, demanded that the police produce a warrant before allowing them to search her house.
She claimed that the police were treating her like a terrorist and that she had the right to do whatever she wanted in her own home.
Despite her protests, the police proceeded to search her house, with Owiso accusing them of trying to snatch her phone away from her.
The video, which has since gone viral, shows Owiso standing her ground and refusing to back down, even when the police tried to arrest her.
She was eventually taken to Buruburu police station, but the reasons behind her arrest remain unclear.
