Published on August 19, 2019, a statement from Buckingham Palace said Prince Andrew was 'appalled' by allegations of sexual abuse surrounding Jeffrey Epstein.
The allegations stem from a video released by the Mail on Sunday, claiming to show Prince Andrew waving goodbye to a woman as she departs Epstein's New York mansion in 2010.
Epstein was found dead on August 10 in a federal jail in Manhattan, awaiting trial on charges of sex trafficking of minors and conspiracy to commit sex trafficking of minors.
Prince Andrew has repeatedly denied allegations of wrongdoing, including a 2016 testimony from Virginia Giuffre, one of Epstein's alleged victims, that she had sex with Prince Andrew when she was underage.
Prince Andrew was Britain's special representative for international trade and investment from 2001 to 2011, a position he gave up following intense scrutiny over his relationships with Epstein and other controversial figures.
