On August 19, 2019, a 50-year-old Spanish national, Pich-Aguilera Maria, was arrested at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) for allegedly being in possession of an ivory bangle.
According to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS), Maria was traveling from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam when she was apprehended.
The ivory bangle reportedly weighed 0.025g.
Confirming the arrest, the KWS stated that Maria is expected to be arraigned at the JKIA Law Court.
