Atletico Madrid's new-look team made a promising start to the season, beating Getafe 1-0 in their La Liga opener on Sunday.
Alvaro Morata headed in a sumptuous cross from Kieran Trippier to seal the win, despite a red card for each team in the first half.
Trippier, the first Englishman to play for Atletico since the Spanish Civil War, impressed with his bending ball and pinpoint cross, which earned him regular praise from the home fans.
Joao Felix, Atletico's big signing from Benfica, made a memorable debut with a mesmeric run that earned a penalty, but Morata's shot was pushed wide by David Soria.
Atletico held on for the win, despite a stubborn performance from Getafe, who finished fifth last season and narrowly missed out on a Champions League spot.
The early signs were encouraging for Atletico, with Trippier and Renan Lodi pushing high and wide, like wingers, and Felix showing some nice touches.
However, the match was marred by two red cards in four minutes, one for each team, which made it 10 against 10 before half-time.
First, referee Cuadra Fernandez turned a yellow card into a red for Getafe striker Jorge Molina after consulting VAR, and then Lodi was handed a second yellow for planting his hand in the face of Damian Suarez.
