Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Boss Shollei has accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of betraying the Rift Valley region by remaining silent on the 2022 succession race.
Speaking on K24 's Punchline on Sunday night, Ms Shollei stated that many people in the Rift Valley voted for Jubilee Party in 2017 because they supported Deputy President William Ruto, not President Kenyatta.
Ms Shollei claimed that when people from Rift Valley woke up to vote in 2017, they did not wake up to vote for Uhuru Kenyatta. Instead, they voted for Ruto, who was in partnership with Uhuru Kenyatta at the time.
Ms Shollei's comments come as the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) continues to be a topic of discussion in Kenya. The BBI was created to effect the handshake between Orange Democratic Movement Raila Odinga and President Kenyatta that ended political hostilities following the disputed 2017 General Election.
Ms Shollei also stated that the people of Kenya are the only ones who can stop anyone from becoming president, and that the BBI is seen as a ploy to stop Deputy President William Ruto from the presidency.
Ms Shollei's comments have sparked debate on social media, with many people sharing their thoughts on the matter.
