John De Mathew, a celebrated Kikuyu musician, tragically lost his life in a road accident on Sunday evening at Blue Post.
According to eyewitnesses, De Mathew's car collided with a lorry, resulting in severe damage to his vehicle.
Gatanga MP Ngugi Nduati revealed that De Mathew was returning from a harambee event held at Metro Bar in Thika in support of fellow musician Peter Kigia.
The driver of the lorry, who was on his way to Sagana from Athi River, claimed that a speeding vehicle hit him from behind.
"When I got here at Blue Post, a car belonging to De Mathew hit me at the back. He was removed from the car by good samaritans who rushed him to hospital as I waited for the traffic police to show up," the driver told journalists at the scene.
De Mathew's car, a Nissan Nivara, was severely damaged in the accident.
