On August 19, 2019, a tweet from Dennis Itumbi's Twitter handle was deleted after it was exposed as a lie. The tweet claimed that DP's wife Rachel Ruto had made food donations to Turkana and Baringo counties. However, the photo used in the tweet was from 2014, showing Rachel Ruto receiving food donations from the Ministry of Special Programmes for starving families in Turkana County.
Itumbi's desperation to paint the Deputy President in a good light led him to use an old photo, claiming it was a recent donation. The tweet was quickly exposed, and Itumbi was left with egg on his face.
