On August 19, 2019, a tragic incident unfolded in Eshirembe village, Kakamega County, where a 76-year-old man, John Makhoha, allegedly killed his 36-year-old son, Habil Amunze, in a dispute over stolen maize.

According to reports, the suspect had been accusing his son of stealing from him in the past, and on this fateful day, he descended on his son with a machete, hacking him to death.

Witnesses claim that the deceased was drunk at the time of the attack, and the body was later moved to the Kakamega County Referral hospital mortuary.

The suspect, John Makhoha, was detained pending arraignment, and investigations are ongoing.
