Frank Lampard's Chelsea homecoming was spoiled by a 1-1 draw against Leicester City on Sunday, marking his first loss as the Blues' manager.

Chelsea's Mason Mount opened the scoring in the seventh minute, but Wilfred Ndidi's powerful header in the 67th minute denied Lampard his first home win.

The draw came after a tumultuous week for Chelsea, which included a 4-0 loss at Manchester United and a penalty shootout defeat to Liverpool in the European Super Cup.

Lampard, Chelsea's all-time record goalscorer, received a thunderous reception at Stamford Bridge, but the mood turned gloomy by the final whistle.

Chelsea's 20-year-old midfielder, Mason Mount, impressed in his first game for the club, scoring his first goal for Chelsea with a clinical finish past Kasper Schmeichel.

However, Chelsea's dip in pace in the second half gave Leicester a lifeline, which they capitalized on with Ndidi's equalizing goal.

Leicester's James Maddison had a chance to seal the win but blasted over from close-range, while Jamie Vardy was just off target after breaching Chelsea's creaky defense.

Chelsea's Kepa Arrizabalaga made a fine save to deny Youri Tielemans in the final minutes, but it was too little, too late for the Blues.
